Hike to Cecret Lake

I heard rumors about the gorgeous wildflowers of the Albion Basin and immediately put that area on my "Utah Bucket List". We finally found the time to go check them out for ourselves! We loaded up the kids, hiking child carriers, as well as a picnic dinner and headed South for an evening Cecret Lake hike with friends.

When we pulled into the parking lot, we knew we were somewhere special. There were photographers everywhere taking bridal, family, and engagement photos! It wasn't hard to find a scenic spot to spread out with our picnic. I attempted to get a couple cute photos of the girls while we ate dinner, but Maddie did not want to put her sandwich down for the photo opp. The girl takes her food very seriously.

After eating, we threw the girls in our backpacks and headed up the trail. The gray, rocky mountains juxtaposed with the lush greenery and colorful wildflowers was breathtaking! My head was on a swivel as I tried desperately to soak it all in. When we got to the lake around sunset, we let the girls out of the packs to romp around. They loved throwing rocks into the lake and climbing over boulders.

As it started to get darker outside, we decided we had better tear ourselves away from the pretty view and head back down to the parking lot We didn't see any wildlife on the way down, but we were told by a fellow hiker that moose often frequent the area. By the time we got back to our cars, it was quite dark out, but we had smiles we couldn't wipe off.

Maddie required her sandwich to pose for the picture. Silly babe!

Attempted to replace the sandwich with a flower. Marginal success.
